We didn't start FANTOME to play the game. We started it to break it.
FANTOME is the production arm of CJLT.co, born in Melbourne and hell-bent on proving that bold Australian storytelling isn't just a niche or nice to have - it's a global export waiting to explode.
With over fifteen years in the industry, FANTOME was built from lived experience - the coffee catch up that never went anywhere, auditions that never see the light of day, development hell, festival circuits, and the beautiful, brutal reality of making things from nothing.
We're a production company built on a simple, slightly unhinged premise: that the best stories are the ones nobody expected, told by voices nobody saw coming, in ways that make you lean forward and forget to blink.
We're renegades. Not in the cool leather-jacket, posing-for-a-photo kind of way (although we do think we’re pretty cool). In the "we actually did the thing, while everyone else was still talking about it" way. Do, don't talk. That's the whole religion.
Our slate includes genre-bending comedy, atmospheric period pieces, boundary-pushing drama, and whatever else keeps us up at 3am scribbling on whatever we can find while fumbling around in the dark. If it excites us and scares us in equal measure, it's probably a FANTOME project.
What we believe.
Narrative Is Everything
Story first. Always. We don't care how big the set is or how famous the face - if the story doesn't land, none of it matters. We build from character outward, from emotion upward, and from truth in every direction.
Genre Is a Suggestion
The best films live in the spaces between categories. Horror that makes you laugh. Comedy that breaks your heart. Drama that keeps you up at night. We don't colour inside the lines. We prefer a Jackson Pollock approach
New Voices or Nothing
The Australian screen industry has extraordinary talent. We cultivate emerging writers, directors, and creators - because the freshest, most dangerous stories come from people who haven't yet learned what they're "supposed" to do.
Do. Don't Talk.
We've sat in enough development meetings that went nowhere. Our philosophy is pathologically simple: make the thing. Do the work. Let the film do the talking.
Australia Deserves Better
This country has given the world some of the most iconic screen moments in history - and then quietly let other nations eat its lunch. We're here to make Australian stories that don't just compete globally. They dominate.
Nothing Is Impossible
Budget constraints? Gatekeepers? The entire system telling you it can't be done? Good. We work best when someone says no. Resourcefulness is our superpower, and delusion is just confidence that hasn't been proven right yet. We love it when someone says it can’t be done - Challenge accepted.
